An historical site, Château Toutigeac is located on a hill at the very heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers in its most hilly and picturesque part.
It looks out over a magnificent panorama of vines, forests and fields with villages, Romanesque churches, manors and delightful houses… some people describe it as a little Tuscany.
TOUTIGEAC is an very old locality, with visible traces which date back from the 12° century. At that time, the monks of St Gérard who came from the neighbouring abbey, la Sauve Majeure, founded a small community, planted vines and built a church.
Toutigeac was at that time a village with more than 200 inhabitants. The Cross with its unsophisticated sculpture of Christ dates back from that time.
